Our vineyard, our passion…

For 4 generations, the CHARTON-GUILLAUME family has cultivated the 6 hectares of the vineyard with passion, in harmony with nature and biodiversity.

This generation begins with Marcel Menu, winegrower and nurseryman in Vrigny. In 1953, his daughter Bernadette MENU, married Lucien CHARTON and worked together on the vineyard. Later, in the early 1960s, they gave birth to the first vines in the village on the land of Méry-Prémecy. After several years of work, the operation expands and sells its first bottles under the Champagne CHARTON-MENU brand.

Their son Raynald has always worked with them on the farm. It was in 1978 that he took over the family estate accompanied by his wife Sylvie GUILLAUME, and created the current Champagne CHARTON-GUILLAUME brand. Since then, the estate has grown and sells 35,000 bottles each year.

To preserve the future of the family wine heritage, Bertrand CHARTON, Raynald and Sylvie's son joined the estate to follow Raynald's retirement. The house is committed to a healthier approach for the environment, and it has been awarded the labels: Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne, and High Environmental Value.

The vineyard is spread over two villages: Méry-Prémecy and Vrigny (Premier Cru) of which 80% in Meunier, 10% in Pinot Noir and 10% in Chardonnay.

Each village brings a typicity to the champagnes of the range, by its different terroir. It is the basement of two vintages, their exposure to the sun, and their specific microclimate that allows the estate to offer a wide range of champagnes.

VITICULTURE DURABLE

Our estate is certified ViticultureDurable in Champagne (VDC) as well as High Environmental Value (HVE)!
These certifications aim to minimize the pressure of wine practitioners on the environment (air, climate, water, soil, biodiversity, landscapes), they are a guarantee of quality and ecological commitment. Producing with the utmost respect for the environment is our will and our duty.
This enterprise of conscience leads us to conduct an ever more disrespectful viticulture of nature and people. Beehives, hedgerows and fruit trees are also installed on our estate to protect biodiversity and protect pollinators and all wildlife.
We don't overexploit our vines, we just do what nature has to offer.
